Take a step back in time to the land of the pioneers of early Natal. After a trip to Ireland, the Estate’s founders, Douglas Liege and Zillah Hulett, decided to name the Estate “Collisheen” in memory of a town they had visited and enjoyed. Through the years they ran Collisheen as a cattle and dairy farm, timber plantation, cotton plantation and of course, a sugar estate.
The next generation, Neil and Morag Hulett, took over the farming operation after Douglas’ untimely death. They set and broke numerous world records on the conservation front, most importantly being the first people in the world to breed Cheetah successfully in captivity.
The third generation, Wayne and Shirleen took over the operation when Neil and Morag retired. After running the sugar operation for some years, Wayne and Shirleen decided to diversify and built the wedding and functions venue in 2000. Today, Collisheen Estate is one of the most sought-after private function facilities on the Dolphin Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
Set amongst magnificent old trees and nestled in a picturesque country setting, the estate offers a private function facility that is exclusively yours for your special day. Panoramic views of undulating sugar fields are complemented by the warm family hospitality of the staff at the estate, making this a private function facility like no other. Experience the peace and tranquillity offered on an original sugar estate.
We have two venues where you can host your special day, namely The Boma, which caters for up to 400 guests, and Orchid House, which accommodates up to 140 guests.
